FROM ME TO YOU

From me to you

Here’s some advice

Don’t worry so much

About folks who aren’t nice

From me to you

Here’s a small tip

Get a cold lemonade

And sit and just sip

From me to you

A bit of wise sage

A lot of times things

Do get better with age

From me to you

Don’t worry so much

Pick some yard flowers

Tie them in a bunch

Walk to a doorstep

And lay them right down

Might help form a smile

From what once was a frown

From me to you

I’m a hundred years old

And I’ve never regretted

Acting too bold

From me to you

I wake up each day

And don’t even think

I just get up and play

From me to you

When I turned ninety nine

I suddenly realized

Everything is just fine

From me to you

You know what they say

It always has been

And is still the same way

From me to you

You know it’s the truth

The bigger the branches

The stronger the root

And the higher you go

It helps to be wide

That way you don’t tip

And fall to one side

From me to you

It’s really the same

Whether you win

Or lose at a game

From me to you

When I turned eighty eight

I finally realized

Everything is quite great

From me to you

I sometimes did wonder

Why people would run

When they first heard the thunder

From them to me

They told me I couldn’t

They told me I can’t

They said that they wouldn’t

And I said okay

That really is fine

But I do what I want

Because this life is mine

It all kind of works out

And there’s nothing to fix

Is what I learned back

When I was sixty six

Back when I was forty?

I was just a baby

It’s funny how things

Used to drive me so crazy

Life is so long

There’s so much ahead

Try to relax

When you lie down your head

There’s plenty of work

There’s plenty of play

There’s enough for us all

To have enough every day

And when I was thirty

I learned the hard way

All the things here

That I’m sharing today

The sun is still there

It just keeps on rising

And twice every day

It electrifies the horizon

And when I was nineteen

I stood on a cliff

With nothing below me

I tried not to slip

And when I looked far

And when I looked down

I saw from above

A bird’s view of a town

Nobody saw me

Nobody could

All way up high

Tucked back near the wood

And I saw all the cars

And I saw the street lights

And I saw folks eating lunch

Two boys flew a kite

And right then and there

I saw a hawk dive

Not even aware

That I was alive

And I turned then and thought

That now I was old

And had seen all the things

That the earth has to hold

And now I’m a hundred

And from me to you

There’s never enough things

To see or to do
